LONDON
FALCONS FC - HISTORY - Founded 2006
The
club has been going since June 2006. Here are a few highlights
that stand out.
June 4, 2006
London Falcons was formed by Craig Randall. 13 men gathered
at Fairfields Recreational Park in Kingston Upon Thames to
play a few hours of football. The guys all socialised down
the Coconut pub just off the Fairfields Park. Due to the success
of the early kick arounds, Falcons were soon able to start
training and preparing for the London Unity Football League.
By the 4th training session the numbers has risen to 24 people.

KEW 7's 7 - 1 LONDON FALCONS
The first official friendly match was played against a local
team from the Kew estate and it was a very proud day for the
club. Not only did the Falcons complete their first ever 90
minutes as a team, they also scored the first ever Falcons
goal through James Edeki who would go on to be highest club
goalscorer. Though the Falcons didn't win, it was a pleasant
evening all round and both teams played in fantastic spirits.
The game took place at Barnes Common, Barnes.

Season
2006/07
The
maiden season the team competed in the London Unity Football
League. In addition to the fixtures, the team played friendlies
up and down the country. It proved to be a successful season
with the team coming second in the league behind champions
GFC Bournemouth.

Season 2007/08
With a strong following of gay and bisexual players
the Falcons entered a LGBT team into the Gay Football Supporters
Network (G.F.S.N.) National league. The team went on to win
the G.F.S.N. in it's first full season recording 8 wins and
1 defeat. With 2 teams entered into the LUFL, the A LUFL team
went on to win the league comfortably.

Season 2008/09
A new 'serious' team was introduced in 2008/09 to
give more competitive football to members. The goal of this
team is to use 2008/09 to develope the team to hopefully in
the next couple of season compete in the national league system.
The team would compete in the West Middlesex Sunday League,
3rd Division.

The Programme
There were 2 programmes released in season 2006/07. The first
for our home friendly match vs LGBT team Leicester Wildecats
(spelling in tribute to Oscar Wilde) at Raynes Park, a game
which Falcons won 5-1. The second programme was against arch
rivals LGBT team London Titans, also at Raynes Park though
unfortunately, the team lost 4-3 on the day.
Several programmes were published at some of our home games
through the 2007/08 season.
The Kit
The first two games vs Kew 7's FC and London Romans FC the
players were asked to bring bring and wear matching coloured
T-shirts. London Falcons first kit were donated to us by our
friends at Stonewall Football Club so our third match vs Nottingham
Ball Bois away we used the Yellow and Blue donated kit.
We used another donated kit just once, which was red and blue,
also donated by Stonewall FC. This game the Falcons won against
Romans 7-3.
The first official home and away kit was custom made by John
Harrison Sports Ltd. In an age where branded kits are forever
being changed the aim was to be able to allow players to buy
their own personalised shirts with names and numbers and it
was hoped that we could keep reproducing the kit over the
seasons when new members joined.

Things didn't go to plan regarding the kits, and John Harrision
stopped producing custom made kits so the club were forced
to use a branded kit. It was a smart kit by Adidas which was
to be used for seasons 2007/08 amd 2008/09.

The London Unity Football League
The L.U.F.L. was formed by the founder of the London Falcons,
Craig Randall. The L.U.F.L. is a community based league inviting
players from all walks of life.
It was also Randall's aim to provide local and competitive
football to players at the club. The 2006/07 season involved
LGBT teams GFC Bournemouth, London Romans and Stonewall 3rds.
The London Falcons finished runners-up behind GFC Bournemouth.
In season 2007/08, Falcons entered two teams into the league,
an A and B team. The league has grown in the second season
with Stonewall 3rds and Romans staying involved along with
new comers London Titans. With the absence of league champions
of GFC Bournemouth who were unable to fullfill the fixtures
and therefore had to withdraw from the league, the London
Falcons A team went on to win the league convincingly. With
highscoring games, such as 12-0, 9-0 and 10-0 it was decided
that the A team would not compete in the following season. |
