LONDON FALCONS 0
GG UNITED 2
report by Toby Naish

The big one was finally here!! The Falcons – GG rivalry from last season was back as the two giants of Sunday league football met on the seasons first Super Sunday!!

The pre match entertainment of a penalty shoot out provided by the grounds early game relaxed the players but then the tension soon mounted again as we were given ten minutes to change and get warm before kick off!

The game started in the usual tight and competitive manner with both sets of players throwing themselves into everything and with neither side creating any clear cut chances. GG probably created the first few good opportunities but Garvin was in very impressive form between the sticks to deny the visiting strikers. GG did manage to take a first half lead after they doubled up on Dec down our left and found their skipper in the box who was given too much time to fire home.

The second half started the same as the first and the Falcons gaffer decided to sacrifice himself and throw on an extra striker which seemed to do the trick as Terry and Scott instantly clicked and began to cause the GG defence some problems. We continued to push for the equaliser and to be honest looked more likely to score for most of the half without creating any real clear cut chances until our hearts were broken when possession was lost deep in our half and GG were able to double their lead and seal the victory late on.

Another disappointing defeat for the Falcons but there were lots of positives to take from the game as our fighting spirit and attitude was definitely a lot better then recent times as well the football we played at times. GG will be one of our toughest opponents this season and I'm confident that if we continue to play in this manner we will start to pick up the points we deserve in the coming weeks.
