SPELTHOURNE UNITED 0
LONDON FALCONS 4
by Toby Naish

The gaffer was definitely fired up for victory on a cold Sunday morning in Scumbury, he ordered an extra intensive warm up as he wanted high tempo from the off and the players responded taking the game to Spelthorne on a horrendous bog of a pitch!

The Falcons were flying from the first whistle and were first to everything all over the pitch and started to play some of the best football we've played all season on by far the worst pitch, the beaver like defence were doing what they do best going forward we looked like we would score with every attack. Unfortunately we just couldn't take our chances and really should have been 3 or 4 up at half time but had to settle for the 1-0 lead courtesy of a well taken strike by Terry Dixon after good link up play with Darren McTague.

The second half started in the same fashion with Falcons dominating the game but squandering the chances, Toby Naish was more guilty then most after finding himself unmarked on numerous corners and making the most of the poor deliveries he still managed to head over time and time again. Eventually the deserved second goal did come again from Terry Dixon after good work down the left by Dec Robertson and a neat cut in and finish by the in form Falcons striker. The Falcons third had a slice of luck about it as an awful strike by Darren McTague which sailed high and wide some how won a corner which eventually found Tom Robertson who smashed home.

The Falcons then seemed to fall asleep for a bit and were caught napping as Spelthorne created a few chances, fortunately the clubs latest pin up Garvin 'Baby Face' Snell was on hand to perform some amazing saves in front of his adoring female fans.

A couple of substitutions and a bit of a reshuffle seemed to awaken the Falcons particularly rampaging wing back Paul Truss who thrived on his bit of freedom up the wing and could have had a hat-trick within 10 minutes. It was from this outlet that the fourth and final goal came after good work by Mr Truss down the right found Terry Dixon in the box to seal his hat-trick and fine performance.
A special mention must go out to the hero's who played after working through the night, good work boys!!
