ROMAN TRAGEDY
The joint leaders of the London Unity League,
The London Falcons and The London Romans met
on Sunday 11th November in a match sponsored
by the the West London LGBT Convention and OutWest
Surrey. It didn't take long for GFSN side The
London Falcons to take the lead in a fiery encounter,
with new signing Richard Cowell letting fly
from outside the box with an unstoppable drive.
Within 20 minutes the Falcons had moved into
a commanding position at 3-0, with goals from
former club captain Tom Price and James Edeki's first
of the afternoon.
By half time the Falcons, who had played almost
the entire 45 minutes in the Romans half, took
a commanding 5-0 lead, with outstanding
strikes from both Falcons leading goal
scorer Edeki and club skipper, Ian Kehoe.
With the vital National cup game coming
up on the 25th November (see below for details),
Falcons club manager Craig Randall made sweeping
changes with no less than 6 players making way
for the Falcons substitutes. Some may have expected
the goals to dry up in the second half and perhaps
the Romans to make more of an impression, but
that wasn't to be as the Falcons once again
proved the quality of the squad Randall has
assembled by thrashing another 5 goals past
the beleaguered Romans side to leave a final
score of London Falcons 10-0 London Romans,
a new London Unity League record and the
Falcons record winning margin since the
club formed last year. The other goals coming
from Sam Elliot (pen), Kevin Latham, another
strike from Man of the Match James Edekie to
complete his hatrick, recent signing Tony Kerr
and Gary Britnell adding the last in the final
minute of play.
Next up for the London Falcons is the Gay National
League Cup quarter final tie against former
Champions, Brighton Bandits. The game is due
to be played at Charlton Athletics training
ground in New Eltham.
