London Unity Football League
Sunday 28th September 2008
The Falcons’ quest to retain the London Unity
League got off to a sensational start with a thumping 4-0
win at Stonewall.
Sam Elliott’s menacing cross was put into his own
net by Chris Bariurski fifteen minutes in and Gary Britnell
kept his composure to double the advantage before half-time.
Debutant Henry Collins-Hooper scored with his very first
touch as he coolly poked around the Stonewall keeper after
Elliott’s right wing pass to seal the points.
Tim Elliott added the gloss with a glancing headed in the
closing stages to completed the rout.
Manager Sam Elliott said: “If anyone were to write
a book on football, look up ‘how to win away from
home’ and you will find a description of today.
“We scored our goals at exactly the right times, got
the all-important third with a classic counter attack after
soaking up some pressure and not a single performance out
there was anything less than exceptional.
“I was chuffed for Henry but I can’t let the
debut performance of Chris Mortimer at right-back go unnoticed.
We have certainly sent out a clear message this afternoon.”
